Melissa Jean

Creative House Press is proud to
announce the addition of Melissa Pickerign to our fine group of
artists. Melissa is working with
Thomas Rosegren
for his children's story;
Special Comforter that is
scheduled for release in April 2010.
In 1988, Michael & Mary Kay gave
birth to their daughter Melissa. Little did they know that
she would become a maverick in the art world in South Dakota. MelJean, as she is know in the art world, is currently finishing
up her degree in Digital Arts and Design before she dives into
her Masters Degree in Fine Arts.
When it comes
to her artwork, Melissa's creativity is fueled by her emotions.
"If I'm angry, I'll throw paint at the canvas. On the other
hand, when I'm feeling good, I'll take my time and become a
perfectionist." MelJean enjoys painting, singing, and
photography in her spare time. She also loves spending time with
her friends and family when possible. With family spread far and
wide, time spent with them is precious.

MelJean's Artwork
"Artist's Concentration" is of a girl in one of my art classes. I
saw a certain mood that I could relate to so I snapped a picture and
continued to draw it. This conte colored pencil drawing earned me
2nd place in 2-D art competition.
"Bold Chaos" is my favorite abstract piece. Created out of a mixture
of sadness, anger, and acrylic paints, it represents my world after
it was turned upside down.
"Memory" is of a model in my most recent figure drawing class. This
was a product of pure determination to finish in one class period. I
used charcoal and my fingertips to create this almost negative
effect.
