Joy Noble and her son
Joy was born in Windsor, Ontario Canada and moved to Brampton,
Ontario to pursue her teaching career.
It was there that she became
extremely involved in the Peel Board’s Literacy initiative.
She worked with a variety of educators from both the Board
and the University to develop effective literacy strategies for
primary students.
Joy currently lives with her beautiful son Justin.
They have been through a lot of losses including that of her
amazing mother and their beloved little pooch Tinker. Having lost
her father and brother as a child, she knew how difficult it is to
understand and discuss death. Joy
wrote a poem for her son, entitled
Missing Tink, to help
him cope with their puppy’s death. Joy’s
son had a lot of questions and she didn’t have a lot of answers.
She shared her work with him
and it inspired wonderful conversations that inevitably helped both
of them heal. Later, Joy
shared
Missing Tink with her
students and once again, they were eager to discuss their personal
experiences and even asked to write about them.
From these experiences, Joy decided to seek publication of
Missing Tink, which will
soon be released as a book by Creative House Kids Press.

When a child looses a pet, whether it be a hamster, fish, cat or dog, they need to work it out in a safe and loving manner. Young children need an opportunity to express their thoughts. Reading a book like “Missing Tink,” enables them to open up to the feelings and sadness that they have had in their world.Schedule Release April 2012
