Extinguishing the Light is a spiritual parable that is uplifting and shows that our spiritual light is the most potent tool we have.  The prayers in the book are excellent and I would definitely use them in my own life.  It was refreshing to read a book about characters who had been through hell in their personal lives and instead of turning to revenge or blame JC showed them how powerful and effective a spiritual foundation can be.  For those who have bottomed out in their own lives with drugs and self destructive behavior, Extinguishing the Light can be very meaningful and give you more food for thought.  - K. Casey (Spritualist)

A page turner!  Written extraordinarily impressive due to the depth of the behind the bars view.  Spiritual and captivating.  A must read with a variety of characters vividly painted.  "JC, a soul survivor who stands firm in his belief and whom the reader will come to love.  An overall journey that anyone can be faced with, but seldom overcome.  Impressive, unique, and fulfilling story of a negative turning so many lives into a positive. - L. Ballard

JC is a story that is compelling, action packed as he endures overwhelming circumstances during incarceration in one of Texas toughest prisons.  In my opinion it falls short through as a guide for spirituality, but would better fit in the thriller/suspense shelves.  The book essentially is about struggle, persecution, perseverance and the limitless power of love.  When you hear JC’s story, you will be carried through all of life’s emotions fear, peace, hunger, satisfaction, anger, joy, hate and love.  JC taught me to never believe any situation is hopeless – that is the world’s view, but hope comes from God’s love and JC is full of it.  R. Isbel

I honestly believe that it was a good book.   However, there is much dialogue in the book that makes it sound as if it was written more to be a motion picture.  It could however be converted into a movie with more effort and to me in perfecting the overall persona of the main characters and keeping JC’s persona quite steady, using more eloquent speech than prison jargon. – B. Jackson, Jr.

I really liked the plot. It was full of substance and I think the readers will relate to many of the characters. The last 50 pages or so were, in my opinion, the best. The action picked up and what I feared was coming did in fact, happen. I'm not a religious person myself, and I wasn't overwhelmed or turned off by the religious references or moral lessons implied. I really enjoyed reading it!  K. Slavich

The beginnings unexpected turn of events is teh only precedence set in this book.  As more unreavels it's impossible to not want a longer story and even more detail.  I expect that there may be a continuation and agreatly look forward to it!  The simplicity is classic and the feeltings involked are very genuine.  A. Extinguishing the Light

ext lightby B. Alan Bourgeois

Faced with hard time in the worst prison for a crime he didn’t commit, one man is able to change the lives of many people, with little regard to his own personal well-being.  This is what true humanity is all about: doing what is right for the whole, not for the one.    This drama shows you what a real prison can be like, while at the same time giving you hope and understanding.   B. Alan Bourgeois has written another great story for our times.
